We have always believed that the construction industry is all about the people in it.
As a fourth-generation family business, we’ve spent more than a century serving contractors, builders, and communities across Ontario. Throughout that time, one thing has remained constant: our industry’s future depends on the people who choose to invest in the next generation.
That’s why becoming a Founding Partner of Legacy Builders was an easy decision.
Last night, the Legacy Builders community came together for its Impact Celebration, an event dedicated to recognizing the volunteers, sponsors, educators, and industry leaders who are helping shape the future workforce of construction across Ontario. The evening served as a powerful reminder that meaningful change happens when an industry works together toward a common goal.

Workforce Development Starts Long Before the Jobsite
The construction industry continues to face a significant workforce challenge. The solution isn’t simply recruiting more workers tomorrow. It’s inspiring young people today. Legacy Builders was created to introduce students to the many career opportunities available within construction, from skilled trades and engineering to project management, technology, safety, logistics, sales, marketing, and leadership. Through engaging classroom presentations and hands-on learning experiences, students are given a firsthand look at an industry many have never fully explored.
What makes the program unique is that it is led by industry professionals who volunteer their time to share their experiences, answer questions, and help students understand the pathways available to them. These conversations are often the first step toward a future career.

The Power of Industry Volunteers
While Hewson Brothers is proud to be a Founding Partner of Legacy Builders alongside our friends at Melloul-Blamey Construction, the true success of the program belongs to the volunteers who show up.
Every classroom presentation, every student interaction, and every meaningful discussion is made possible by professionals from across the construction community who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences.
Many of those volunteers are our customers, suppliers, partners, and friends.
They are project managers, estimators, skilled tradespeople, business owners, manufacturers, designers, and construction leaders who understand that investing in the next generation is an investment in the future of our entire industry.
To everyone who has stepped into a classroom, participated in an event, sponsored a program, or helped spread the message of opportunity within construction, thank you.
More Than a Program—A Network
One of the most rewarding outcomes of Legacy Builders has been the community it has created across Ontario.
What started as a workforce development initiative has grown into a network of contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, educators, municipalities, and industry leaders working toward a common goal: inspiring the next generation of construction professionals.
The future of our industry depends on collaboration, and Legacy Builders provides a platform for companies and individuals to make a meaningful impact together.
Growing Our Impact
Since its launch, Legacy Builders has connected with more than 6,000 students and educators while continuing to expand into new communities across Ontario.
As the program grows, so do the opportunities for industry professionals to get involved through volunteering, sponsorship, advocacy, and mentorship. Every contribution helps strengthen the future of our workforce.
Looking Ahead
At Hewson Brothers, we’re proud of what Legacy Builders has accomplished and excited about what’s still to come. Most of all, we’re grateful to the volunteers, customers, partners, educators, and students who make this program possible. Together, we’re creating opportunities, building connections, and helping ensure a strong future for the construction industry.
If you’d like to learn more or get involved, we encourage you to connect with the Legacy Builders team and join this growing industry network.
