At Hewson Brothers Building Supply, we’ve always believed that building strong communities starts with building strong connections. For over 40 years, and across four generations, we’ve been deeply committed to the construction industry, supplying the materials, expertise, and service that help projects succeed.
Now, we’re proud to bring that same commitment to the next generation of industry leaders as the Digital Media Sponsor for the Legacy Builders Program, an initiative presented by the Grand Valley Construction Association’s (GVCA) Leaders in Construction Committee in partnership with the Business and Education Partnership of Waterloo Region.
Investing in the Future of Construction
The Legacy Builders Program introduces local students to the many rewarding careers available in the construction industry. Through engaging classroom sessions, interactive activities, and career resources, the program helps students see construction as a vibrant, innovative, and inclusive industry.
As the Digital Media Sponsor, Hewson Brothers is proud to have supported the marketing, digital, and interactive elements of the program, including the development of its new website. Our goal is to make it easier than ever for students, educators, and parents to access the resources they need to explore career paths in construction.
Leadership Through Involvement
Our involvement in Legacy Builders extends beyond just sponsorship. It’s personal.

Beth Marchant, our Marketing Manager, is an active member of both the GVCA Leaders in Construction Committee and Women in Construction Committee where she focuses on promoting careers in construction, particularly for young women entering the field. Beth’s passion for growing the industry has driven her to volunteer as Digital Marketing Lead for Legacy Builders, using her expertise in branding, digital design, and online engagement to help bring this program to life in an impactful way.
“The Legacy Builders Program is the perfect mix of fun and future-building. It takes construction out of the ‘hard hats only’ stereotype and shows students just how many ways you can build a career in this industry. I’m all about getting more young people, especially young women, to see themselves here. If lending my marketing and digital skills helps make this program pop off the screen and stick in their minds, then that’s a win that makes it all worth it. “
Jason Church, one of our Account Managers, has been a dedicated volunteer with the Business and Education Partnership of Waterloo Region for over 10 years. Drawing on his extensive experience in construction, Jason has spent countless hours in classrooms across the region, sharing insights into the skilled trades, workplace safety, and the respect and professionalism that define a successful career in the industry. He has a special dedication to educating parents and families to change the stereotype that careers in construction are less valuable or successful than university pathways.
“I’ve spent more than a decade volunteering with the Business and Education Partnership because I’ve seen firsthand the impact it makes when students and their families understand the benefits and opportunities in construction. It’s about more than just talking tools and materials; it’s about helping the next generation see a future where they can build something meaningful, for themselves and their communities.”
A Shared Mission
At Hewson Brothers, our legacy is built on more than drywall, insulation, and steel, it’s been built on people. We’re committed to supporting initiatives like Legacy Builders because they reflect our own values:
-
Empowering the next generation with knowledge, confidence, and opportunity
-
Championing diversity and inclusion in the skilled trades
-
Strengthening the industry through mentorship, education, and community partnerships
We’re excited to see the continued growth of the Legacy Builders Program and to witness the impact it will have on inspiring young people to consider fulfilling careers in construction.
