With 23 years of experience under his belt, Jason Church is no stranger to the ins and outs of the building materials industry. His journey through the sector is as comprehensive as it is impressive—ranging from warehouse operations and delivery logistics to safety management, inside and outside sales, and even general management.

One of Jason’s key strengths lies in his ability to help clients navigate the financial challenges of their projects. His knack for staying within budget while still ensuring profitability has made him an invaluable resource for many. “My job is to get the customers what they need to complete the job in a timely manner,” Jason shares. His approach is grounded in consistent product review and a deep understanding of the materials he recommends.

In an industry that is constantly evolving, Jason stays ahead of the curve by leveraging social media platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn, along with subscribing to vendor email threads. This ensures he’s always up to date with the latest products and industry trends, allowing him to offer clients cutting-edge solutions that keep their projects on target.

A recent example of Jason’s expertise in action was during a recent modular project, where his innovative thinking led to the elimination of an entire step in the exterior wall assembly process. This not only streamlined the process but also resulted in significant savings in labour and material costs for the client.

As a regular guest speaker for the Business and Education Partnership of Waterloo Region, he’s been speaking to youth from grade 7 to grade 12 for the past 10 years. His presentations aim to teach the next generation about the importance of skilled trades as a career choice, health and safety, and respect in the workplace. His involvement in shaping the future of the industry underscores his dedication to building a stronger, more informed workforce.

The majority now would much rather me be available with an answer for them when they need it,” Jason explains. 

His advice to clients is always pragmatic and grounded in experience. “I always present cost differences between similar products first. This doesn’t always mean that the cheapest is the best option but then we review what will work best for them depending on the application,” he notes.
